Visually Objectionable

I am SO irritated right now! I found an envelope stuck in my apartment door informing me that the small ice chest I have out on my balcony "is considered to be visually objectionable". And this next part of the letter is in bold text and underlined:

"Please remove the ice chest or any other items you may have on your balcony that are not patio furniture, potted plants or gas grill. Please do so by October 26, 2007."

Seriously???? So a small ice chest that you can hardly see from the ground is "visually objectionable"...but someone that has 47 plants, 2 bikes, kids play equipment, etc. is o.k.? While I appreciate the idea of having clean, uniform balconies...I want to know who the balcony Nazi is and why they get to define what is and what is not "visually objectionable". Because maybe I think their face is "visually objectionable" and they are not allowed to be on my balcony. So there.

Well, that's just ridiculous! Have you talked to the management about this? I'd fight it.

My suggestion: Put a potted Chrysanthamum in it and call it a planter.

Now THAT is a fabulous suggestion! I might have to try that - just to prove a point. I don't think there's a description of visually objectionable planters in the lease!
