Footprints In The Sand

Don't worry - this isn't about the cheesy poem by the same title. It's more literal than that. Ever since I got back to California, I've been meaning to go walking at the beach. Partially because I loathe exercise, and partially because I'm afraid of some of the people that hang out at the beach early in the morning, I haven't made it down there yet.

Today, that changed. It was kind of gray and overcast and there's still a strange odor in the air from the fires, but there's something about being at the beach that is so great! I didn't even wear my ipod so I could hear the waves crashing.

I walked on this pier thing for a little while and then decided to take off my shoes and walk on the sand right along the water line. Now that is a good lower body workout! I'd forgotten how hard it is to walk on wet sand. I think my muscles are going to be sore tomorrow!

One of the best things about my walk was watching three dogs have the time of their life! There were two blonde labs and one black one. Their owner was throwing a ball into the water and they all chased it. You could tell they were having fun...it looked like they were smiling!

Good times!

Gray, overcast days are my favorite beach days! I'm glad you were able to go.

I'm so glad you finally made it to the beach! It's one of my fav things to do--and I have to admit that I'm a little jealous.
