OK, So I'm finally going to post about my amazing zip line adventure in Colorado about a month ago. My dad actually found this place and took all of us (my brother, sister-in-law and nephew) there for our birthdays this year. It was an all day event. We had to drive a few hours to Durango, CO and get on a train for about 1 1/2 hours to this mountain resort where they have the zip course. The only way you can access the area is by train or helicopter, so it's pretty remote. First they got us all harnessed up, and we signed the obligatory waiver that said we can't sue them if we fall out of a tree and die. Here's a picture of us in our harnesses (Dear people at Soaring...please make pink harnesses. Love, Laura).
For those of you who have never zipped before, it's unbelievable. The first step off the platform is a little scary, but after that, it's a really cool feeling. This zip course had 30 separate zips from tree to tree and crossed a river 8 or 9 times, so we were literally flying right over the water. About half way through the day, we went up to a platform in the trees for lunch. Here's me and my dad on the lunch platform:
The course is actually at a pretty nice resort, with top level chefs and the lunch was amazing! And it was topped off by homemade ice cream sandwiches! Here's a picture of me flying through the air:
And here's a little video. I've never tried to post video before, so I'm not sure if it will turn out. One of the first traverses was in an area they called Aspen Alley. As you can see, it's two rows of white Aspens lined up making a perfect little lane to zip through! This is me taking video of my own flight through that area. Warning - if you have motion sickness, you might not want to watch.
Overall, it was an amazing day! So much fun with my family, I wish my mom could have come but she was babysitting my niece. Thanks to my mom and dad for the experience!

I can't decide if I would love it, or be peeing my pants the whole way. Do you have to put a deposit on the harness, just in case that happens? Laundering fees?
Glad you had a great time!
This is AWESOME!!!! Someday I'd like to try it...
Laura,
I'm a friend of Rich Smith's in Atsugi Japan. He is currently at your neck of the woods. He's staying at the Double Tree-909-937-0900. He would really love to get in touch with you before he heads back this way!
Thanks!
Michelle
