Wendy's Post got me thinking about some of my favorite TV theme songs of all time. As I started compiling my list, I realized how cheesy most of them are. However, if I heard them come on right now, I'd be excited and start singing along (or humming if there are no lyrics)...that's the mark of a truly legendary TV theme song. Here's my list (in no particular order).- Little House on the Prairie
- Silver Spoons
- Family Ties
- Facts of Life
- Gilmore Girls
- 21 Jump Street
- Cops
- Cheers (I never really watched the show, but this is a classic)
- Wonder Years
- Brady Bunch
- Gilligan's Island
That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's some I'm forgetting. What are your favorites?

Laverne and Shirley! Love that one.
Oh my goodness - how could I forget that one? I still wish I knew what they were saying at the very beginning though.
That would be:
"Sclameal, shlamazel, osten tensen corporated, da da da da da..."
P.S. Fame theme song, Greatest American Hero, A-Team
Okay, I just googled it and here's what it says
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Schlemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated."
I second Amanda on The Greatest American Hero addition. I also would have to add "The Facts of Life". I always wanted to be Blair Warner.
How about Growing Pains and Who's the Boss. I loved those ones. A-Team is a winner also, great addition Amanda.
Now I have all those themes songs in my head. Once I took German the theme to Laverne and Shirley made so much more sense.
The Office theme song now gives me that happy feeling that all the old school ones do.
