A few of you (who shall remain nameless, but have the initials of EW, AJ and RK) have been nagging me to post. So, here it is.
It's hard to come up with a spontaneous post when one doesn't necessarily feel inspired to do so. Besides, it's really your faults that I don't want to post as much anymore. Let's face it...my blog is just so-so in the RR world of blogs. And I'm competitive...and I want to be good at stuff, so you all are giving me a complex!! Side note: notice I said "you all" and not "y'all" because I refuse!
Speaking of complexes...I got another letter from my apartment complex about a week ago about something they find "visually objectionable". This time it was a bamboo shade that I have hung on the flimsy divider that hangs between my apartment and my neighbor's. The only thing that's their is lattice. Do they get that lattice has holes in it and does not promote privacy? I ended up feeling very Rachel-like and wrote a letter to management saying how unfortunate it was that a person in the complex couldn't feel safe and secure in their own home. I told them I'd take it down because I signed an addendum saying I'd abide by the Nazi-like (my word, not theirs) balcony rules. However, I urged them to reconsider the rule.
I felt very powerful writing this letter...just knowing that my well-written letter would persuade them to change policy. Allowing bamboo shades on balconies would become known as the Purrington Amendment, or Laura's Law...something along those lines.
Then, two days later I got a letter from management saying something like "thank you for taking down your shade. Sincerely, Management"
Blast!!

Well, A for effort!
And I agree with you that they have stupid balcony rules. Your bamboo shade was very tasteful.
(It's not like you hung up a Hawaiian print or something.)
Also, yay for your post! We've missed you!
I'm so glad to know you haven't renounced the blog. I think your break from posting was as long as one of my usual intervals between posts, so you know it was long! Good to hear from you again - and those apartments sound so irritating. It's like this store I like to go to sometimes because it's really cheap, but very unfriendly. They have all these signs hanging around with very firm declarations, one of which is "NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS". Well, last time we were there CT had a little emergency and I begged them to let a potty training 3 year old use their facilities and THEY WOULD NOT LET HIM. That, my friend, is cruel. What really frustrates me is that I can't even get back at them by refusing to shop there again, because I get too many good deals there. Bummer.
Welcome back Laura!
I really shouldn't be able to complain about others not posting, because although I check all my favorite blogs (all y'all's) each and every day, I go for super long spells without blogging. But, if you have gone longer than me, it is time to change your ways.
Glad you're back.
If you are feeling like a 3 am post tonight, I think we deserve another one of those. Fun times for us.
Welcome back! I'm glad you wrote a letter. Didn't it feel good? I hope you put in there that your newly painted orange door is visually objectable and you would like for them to change it.
I'm glad you're posting again too Laura. I love your questions of the week. Apartments, apartments! Seriously. It's like they pick on the nice people. I'm glad you wrote a letter. They should have at least given you a break on your rent for cooperating.
