Question of the Week

If you got to rename yourself, what would you choose?

I would make mine something historical or something from the family. If my dad had been in to genealogoy stuff before I was born, I probably would have wound up with a family name. It turns out, my great great grandmother is named Jesse Laura, but I wasn't named after her. In the family, we refer to her as "the hussie" because she was a little on the "loose" side - especially for the turn of the century! Anyway, my great grandmother on my dad's side is Georgia May and I've always thought that was cute. If I ever have a daughter, it would be a contender. So, that might be the name I'd choose for myself.

I'd probably go with a family name too. Probably one of my southern relatives. They had a lot of cool old-y names.

I can't think of any right now, but when I do, I'll post some...well, there is Ida Mae, which is my grandma's name, but that might be too old fashioned.

Ok, so don't hate me...but I totally like my name, and I dont think I'd change it. I know that sounds dumb, but it's been nice having a "normal" name (one that everyone can pronounce, and no one has to ask "how do you spell that?" unless they forgot my name) that is not too common. I mean, I did go to school with another girl (with my first and last name), who kept enrolling me in stupid dance classes with my LEAST fav teacher (the one that yelled at me and called me manipulative)...but other than that I really dont see many Heathers around --> and I LOVE that (oddly enough, I dont usually like people with my name...they're kinda jerks).

Well let's see, I agree with Heather that I like my name but, she is lucky that hers is a name that everyone knows how to pronounce. I'm always getting people asking me how to say my name. But as far as a different name for myself, I'd also go with an old fashioned family name. My grandma's name is Alice and I've always thought that was cute.

Well, my grandmas' names were Leola and LaRue, which are certainly old-time but also a little to Vernal-Utah-y for me. I like Rachel. I'll stick with it.
