Packaging

You've got to love packaging, don't you? My co-worker, Kelly (hi Kelly!), got me this package of spoons recently (because people like to steal my own personal stash of spoons), and several things on the package cracked me up!

First is the "New Look" announcement at the top. I mean, how can plastic spoons have a new look? Isn't a spoon pretty much a spoon?

Second, that they're called "Daily". So, are there Special Occasion spoons that are somehow fancier, but these will do for all your day to day eating needs?

Third, that they're "Super Strong". I need to test that out. We've all seen what happens when trying to dig into a pint of Ben & Jerry's with a plastic spoon! I've seen the demise of many plastic spoons trying to accomplish this particular maneuver.

Fourth and Lastly, that these are "Luncheon size". Does that mean that there are Breakfast size, Dinner size and maybe even Brunch size? Why do we need different size cutlery for each meal of the day? What makes these particular spoons fit for luncheons, but not for dinner?

Yes, I know we have serious problems out there in the world...and I've just spent my time analyzing a box of plastic spoons. But we all have to start somewhere right? Maybe I won't be able to lobby congress to pass a law, or rally my neighbors in a revolt against the ban on balcony screens...but I CAN make us all think more about plastic spoons!

I really appreciate the "super strong" comment. I once went to a reception and my fork broke not once, not twice, but three times in the middle of the luncheon. Seriously annoying. I'll take this brand into consideration.
